It’s unfortunate how much harm can be done when someone doesn’t have the support to stand up for what they believe in. This happens everywhere from the school yard, to the work place, and unfortunately sometimes results in tragedy. Recently we’ve heard many stories in the news about children here in Toronto taking their own lives as a result of bullying. Bullying takes place due to unequal power, hurtful actions, and repetitive behaviours…which could include interaction with a classmate, professional superior, or even within everyday relationships. According to Public Safety Canada, some 20% of K-8 children reported being bullied more than once over the school year. |
